Thailand’s energy giant PTT Exploratin & Production Pcl (PTTEP) is
planning to invest more in Zawtika gas block in Gulf of Mottama in
Myanmar, according to a Mizzima report.
The new investment in Myanmar will constitute about 20 percent of its
total in Southeast Asia, says the report.
“More than $2 billion is planned for Myanmar, for Zawtika and also for
exploration in our other block licenses and potential new ones,” an
unnamed PTTEP executive is quoted as saying by Mizzima.
He also said Myanmar will become a major gas supplier to Thailand when
Zawtika starts its production.
