Myanmar is restructuring its national economy and developing necessary institutions as political reforms continue, said president Thein Sein in his monthly speech broadcast via state radio and FM stations Tuesday.

He touched on his groundbreaking visit to US on 19-22 May for the first-ever visit by a Myanmar leader to Washington in more than four decades.

In response to his critics, he said the political viability is more important, calling the criticisms and differences as “natural phenomenon”.

He also elaborated on the seven-point landmark peace deal on 30 May with the KIO, the last rebel group to reach any peace accord with the government.
