A large crowd of representatives from hundreds of foreign companies flooded into two-day New Myanmar Investment Summit started Wednesday.
Participants in the conference sought their ways to invest in Myanmar through consultations with Myanmar officials and entrepreneurs.
Over 300 businessmen from more than 20 countries joined the conference organized by Singapore-based CMT, Xinhua reported.
Dr Kan Zaw, deputy minister for national planning and economic development, said in his opening speech that Myanmar is trying to integrate with ASEAN Economic Community.
Foreign entrepreneurs saw the summit as a good start to set up their presence in Myanmar which won attention of global investors after series of political and economic reforms.
Amendment bill of decades long foreign investment law is poised to be discussed during the next session of the country’s parliament which is scheduled to start on 4 July.
China ranked first among foreign investors in Myanmar who put over 13 billion US$ on Myanmar.
